In honor of August 8th being National CBD Day, I sat down with an expert on the topic: Erin Flanigan, the Director of Sales Training and Development for Zar, a Texas based veteran-owned Canna Therapy company.

I first found Zar while shopping for natural pain and anti-inflammatory options for an ongoing rotator cuff injury I have.

I fell in love with their products, started using them in my practice and now sell them to help my patients with home care in between visits. I also found that applying their topical pain cream after dry

needling helps my patients with the soreness that can follow treatment.

Dr. Jody Angel (Dr. A): I want to share my story with you for national CBD day. As a chiropractor, I am somebody who is interested in natural, holistic alternatives. I was dealing with a rotator cuff issue where I had a lot of inflammation and was prescribed an anti-inflammatory, but I didn't want to take it. So that's how I met Erin. I wandered into Zar and she changed my life. She gave me a great run down of all things CBD and I started using their 1000mg iPump CBD topical pain cream, which I LOVE. I carry it in my office and now I use it with patients. I wanted to bring her in today to explain to you everything she did for me about CBD and its health benefits. Let's take it over to Erin.

Erin Flanigan (E): Thank you for the introduction. My name is Erin Flanagan, I am the Director of Sales Training and Development for Zar. We are a Texas based hemp and cannabis company. We have retail stores, online and an app. We are rolling out delivery service to Houston very soon.

(Dr. A): What are some common conditions or complaints that people walk into your stores with that you're able to help?

(E): Most people that walk into our store are dealing with sleeplessness, pain, anxiety, depression. I have had a multitude of clients come in that tell me their ailment and I have no idea what it is. However, I ask them "how does that manifest in your body?" and it all comes back to pain, sleeplessness, anxiety and sometimes depression. By really probing and figuring out what is going on with them that way we can recommend the best products for them specifically.

What we do at Zar is taking through an educational consultation. We're going to curate a tailored package that is specific to your needs or ailments because we're all different.

(Dr. A): I really love that you do that. When I'm treating, every single person gets something different. There is no one-size-fits-all. So I really love that about y'all as well.

(E): Some of the most known cannabinoids, or chemical compounds that make up the cannabis plant are going to be CBD, CBG "the grandfather of cannabinoids" and THC. CBD stands for "cannabidiol. CBD can help with pain, inflammation, with sleep. There are so many benefits. CBG is a powerhouse anti-inflammatory, neuro-protectant and even has anti-bacterial properties.

Then of course THC which is found in both the hemp plant and marijuana. All of our products are 100% hemp extracted from the hemp plant. THC is the compound that can get you elevated or "high." But it also can help tremendously with pain and anxiety.

When speaking with Jody, with her being a chiropractor, a lot of her clientele are dealing with a lot of pain and inflammation, even anxiety.

(Dr. A): I love you guys. I love your stuff. I have had many patients go and visit your stores and have a great experience. I'm hoping to start carrying more of the joint health products in my practice because that effects what I do as a chiropractor!

(Dr. A): So this is the iPump topical pain cream that has CBD in it I carry in my office. Can you explain how it works? *Shows bottle of product in photo above*

(E): This is a 1000mg, broad spectrum product meaning it contains all of the cannabinoids from the hemp plant. When you apply it, there is not THC in it, but even if it did, it does not have the ability to pass through your skin into your blood stream. It increases the blood flow, reduces inflammation and in turn helps with reducing pain.

(Dr. A): A common question I get from my patients about this product is "will it make [them] feel high?" or have any impact on a drug test? Does this have that effect at all?

(E): Absolutely not.

(Dr. A): So all of your products are all natural. Are they addictive? Is there any component where someone could not stop taking CBD?

(E): No. Just like you said all of our products are natural. They are derived from hemp. They are not addictive. A lot of pharmaceuticals have many negative side effects and can be addictive. This is all a completely holistic approach.

(Dr. A): Where can everyone find your information?

(E): If you would like to visit one of our stores for one of our consultations, which I highly recommend, google your nearest "Zar." We have 8 locations in the Houston area, 6 in San Antonio, 7 currently in DFW and are slated to open 3 more in a couple weeks. You can visit www.zarwellness.com. We do free shipping over $100 anywhere in the US. We also have an app for anytime you're in a hurry.

(Dr. A): Thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge that you have! Hopefully more people will come in to reap the benefits of CBD because I know I have.

(E): Of course! I hope to see you all there. One more thing before I go, we are a veteran owned company, and we offer a 22% to all active duty and veterans. We do this because there is a very sad statistic that 22 veterans take their life every day. We believe that through proper canna therapy we can make a dent in that number or eliminate it all together.

(Dr. A): I love that you do that, it's really important.

I offer the iPump 1000mg CBD topical pain cream in my office for $55 plus tax.

You also find this product and more at all Zar stores!

In health,

Jody Angel, DC
